Wines of Alsace - Brighton
'This beautiful, underrated French region is a real eye opener’ – Jonny
Alsace in eastern France lies on the border of Germany and is as German as it is French in terms of population, architecture and its grape varieties. Germanic Riesling and Gewurztraminer are found here side by side with French Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris all adding to a small but complex wine producing region offering the most aromatic and different styles in comparison to the rest of France. It unusual, its unique, its great.
Did you know that there are more Michelin starred restaurants in Alsace than in any other French wine region? Or that villages from Alsace regularly win the best village in France award?
Alsace offers terrific sparkling wines (Cremant d'Alsace) and a great range of aromatic white wines. There are 51 grand cru single vineyards AOCs to get your head around plus two categories of sweet wines.
I have travelled to this region many times and am looking forward to sharing its delights with you at this fantastic tasting.
