Fine Wine Tasting: Alsace Grand Cru

Fine Wine Tasting: Alsace Grand Cru

Alsace makes some of France's most popular food friendly white wines. Although well known in France the area is soemthing of a wine trade and wine enthusiast secret in other parts fo the world.

The highest quality wines are the Grand Cru whites. There are 51 separate Grand Cru appellations in Alsace (other still wines are bottled under the Vin d'Alsace AOC) accounting for just 4% of annual production.

We will explore some of these cru single vineyards and their intense, aromatic ethereal wines. We will also look at the fascinating history of Alsace and where the region is today.

This tasting will appeal to lovers to premium white wines, people already familiar with Alsace whites and those who would like to discover them.

We'll be tasting seven Grand Cru wines to include

  • Riesling
  • Pinot Gris
  • Gewurztraminer
  • Muscat
  • Sylvaner
  • Field blend
  • An SGN botrytis wine
